Is Steam "Required" to play this game?

This is the Gold Edition of the Original Strategic Command: Blitzkrieg and Weapons and Warfare combined. It also Patton Drives East expansion and Strategic Command Pacific Theatre.

Is Steam "Required" to play this game?

I would like to know if a Steam account is required to play this game or can I just run it on my own?
It's all Mind Over Matter....

Only if you buy through Steam. If you buy through Matrix you can download an installer or get a Steam key or both. Actually I just reinstalled the game and couldn't get it to run through Steam this time. If fact i couldn't get any of the classic games running through Steam. They all work fine when i installed using the download from Matrix.
