night turns?

Decisive Campaigns: Ardennes Offensive is the fourth wargame in the Decisive Campaign series. Covering the battles in the Ardennes between December 1944 and January 1945, it brings to life Operational wargaming by lowering the scale to just above tactical level.

night turns?

I'm trying to learn the game and this time give it more time than usual - watching a lot of tutorial videos and studying the map. Normally I find that really boring, but for some reason not in this game.
But I still have a few questions; I hope it isn't stupid questions:
- what is good to do in a night turn?
- engineers: if they are not blowing up bridges or building them, what are they good for then?

By the way - for now, I am only playing the small scenarios. Maybe I dare play bigger ones later :)

1) If possible, rest your troops during night turns. I know, it's a tough decision, especially if you're playing the Germans.
2) They give you combat bonuses AFAIK in fighting against entrenched enemies and urban areas.
