Unable to update

Wondering if it is because my version is so old.

I have 1.00.05.

Tells me unable to open FTP file every time I try it.

Should I try a complete uninstall and reinstall?

Update has never worked for me. I am downloading directly the patch exe on my disk and execute it from there.

Well I guess if you know where the patches are you can do that.
I do not so am not able to do that.
