Sonar not working?

(Build 1243.2 Beta) It seems that sonar (Passive/Acoustic interceptor, Active worked) does not working at all: sonar cannot detect contacts no matter how close to target unless using active or other sensors.

I tested with (1) Scenario #1 of Norhern Inferno campaign (known for multiple SOSUS contacts after start) (2) Submarine tutorial 2.2 (3) my original submarine vs surface ships scenario (ship runs with full throttle & active sonar on).

Correct me if I forget something important.
It is well that war is so terrible: otherwise we should grow too fond of it.

1243.2? Do you mean 1243.3?

No, he means 1243.2, that's what the steam beta branch version number is displaying as.

Yes, 1243.2 of steam version.

I can confirm I'm seeing the same issue. Active is working but anything passive is not. I'm on the same version number on Steam as well.

Here's another scenario that lets you observe this issue as soon as you load it.

This should be fixed in B1243.4, please give it a try.

I didn't get a chance to try 1243.4 before it was replaced by 1243.5, but in 1243.5 this issue appears to persist. Just loading up the Submarine Tutorial 1.1 I can't seem to get the passive sonar to find the ship under any circumstances.

A community member was kind enough to test this with me and we can confirm it's not just you, sonar was working in 1243.4 but seems to be broken again in 1243.5

Well, I did some more testing and at first I couldn't get the passive sonar to work in either 1243.4 or 1243.5. I modified my approach to the Submarine Tutorial 1.1 and set periscope depth instead of "shallow" - and in either version, once the ship has been spotted by periscope, it is then picked up by the passive sonar.

But, in the interest of fairness, I then rolled back to 1243.3 and tried Submarine Tutorial 1.1 once again using the idea of going to periscope depth first. And the same thing happened - the ship was not picked up by the passive sonar until it was already spotted by the periscope, at which point it did get picked up by the passive sonar a moment later.

So I'm seeing the same behavior in .3, .4, and .5.
