Transports range impacted by weather?

Post by rocketman71 »

Like the topic header says. I'm trying to fly transports to Crimea (Me 323) and the range circle I get has a 22 hex radius (with auxiliary fuel tank) in light rain, but the info on the plane type indicates a 26 hex radius. Couldn't find in the manual how/if bad weather reduces range or not. I was under the impression that the only effect was a higher risk of operational losses.

The info I see is a 226 mile range and I can get them to transport 22 hexes. Where are you seeing a 260 range? I don't think weather impacts range, and least that would be news to me.

I used the "aircraft compare" window and it states Range as 525 and half of that is about 260 i.e. 26 hexes if one hex is 10 miles. Although, in the individual info window is that Radius (miles) as 226 so that would be 22-23 hexes.

It can be confusing, because the range listed in the equipment window is the max (1-way transfer range) of the aircraft, without any special loadouts. To then convert that to mission range, you have to divide by 3 (for fighter escort range you /4). The Me 323 has drop tanks that it can use, which extends the range back up and gets you to the 226 number. At least that's what I think is going on.

Yeah, that was confusing
So, if I get it, there is no way to achieve half of the max range (i.e. radius) even with drop tanks for freight transport missions?
A bit off topic, the game saves most on screen info between sessions, but not range circles on. Could it be implemented as an option - range circles always on?
