Is there a mod called Decisive Campaigns?

Post by Torrentara »

I installed the mod...Beveled Units 4.1 by mroryer

I did not like the look of it ...so I deleted the files.

When I went back into the game...I was presented with something on the title screen called....

Decisive Campaigns
The Blitzkrieg
From Warsaw to Paris

What is this? I can't even find this mod in the forums. It makes part of the UI silver....reports, OOB, messages etc...the unit colors are darker and easier on the eyes, and the borders have really cool highlighted borderlines.

It's a previous game from the same developer. The game must've defaulted to using assets left over from building Shadow Empire on top of the previous codebase, for some reason. Did you accidentally delete something that's part of the stock game?
Not affiliated with Slitherine. They added it to my name when they merged the Slitherine and Matrix account systems.

Thanks for the reply....I deleted mod files dated 6/3/22....the day I loaded the mod. So the mod must embed with some of the original files, and when I deleted...I have Shadow Empires with a Decisive Campaigns paint job on the UI. The border markings are really vibrant...he should've used those borders in Shadows. =)

I'm going to uninstall and reinstall on steam to get it back to the original. No more mods.

Just to be clear for everyone else:

That particular mod (Beveled Counters v4.1) only overwrites graphics files in the GraphicsAlt folder (the officially prescribed modding folder) and three files in the Graphics\shadowmodgraphics folder (defaultcounter.png, defaultcounterbig.png and defaultcountersmall.png). It does not embed with any other files or folders. It is very benign.

My guess is that other files whose date changed to 6/3 from having played the game were deleted inadvertently. I tried to duplicate the behavior you see to figure out the specific file(s) but was unable to. Sorry for that.

I figured it out and was able to duplicate Torrentara's issue.

There are graphic splash-screen files in the graphics\shadowmodgraphics\cat1 folder (such as marcintro2.png) which, if missing, will cause the Decisive Campaigns splash-screen to appear on Shadow Empire startup. These files must have been accidentally deleted in addition to the beveled units mod files.
