What is your Allied card strategy for big scenarios?

Post by WABAC »

Do allied players need to use the fuel and/or supply cards in Wacht om Rhine or Plan Martin? How often?

Do you spend cards on replacements? How often?

Any tips on cards I forgot to ask about?

Nice question !
We find that the use of supply and fuel is very different from player to player and i still try to fine tune a good level for both the cautious player and the aggressive player.
This is the reason why we have the cards.

They're a fun addition to the game. I was hoping to hear from some players. But maybe they are still figuring it out too. ;)

I'm playing Plan Martin with the slow AI. I get a lot of chores done around the house waiting for the AI. 8-)

If needed is my best answer. I keep an eye on my supply overlay, and if an area is in yellow or red and other conditions align I will drop a depot for the logistical improvement. In my two current ongoing games as both sides, I have destroyed some depots that were contested and later rebuilt them when I had control of the area.

I try to go as far as I can with the starting units because the more units there are the more supplies and fuel are consumed. If I encounter a particularly hard nut to crack, I will bring in a reinforcement unit, the smallest possible to get the job done. If there are supply/fuel issues in a particular area I try to resolve it by placing a supply depot.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like new depots are more important than playing the cards for supplies and fuel.

I have found air power quite useful, even with overcast skies. I play with random weather on.

I used the replacement cards nearly every turn while playing Plan Martin. I can't say that I noticed a difference.
