Need assistance

I am trying to put a few Japanese held islands on the US West Coast side of the map down by South America. I can put the islands on the map, but they cannot be invaded by sea from the Allied side. I can conduct airborne operations, but no amphibious ops. I have set up APD's, xAP, AP, xAK, AK's in amphib TF with US Marines, US Army soldiers in combat mode.

I have moved the islands from 1 hex to 10 hex's away from the magical map edge. What can I do to make these islands invadable?
