Adjacent Areas Issues

Post by pzgndr »

A naval AI improvement I've made for v1.24.03 is to get the AI to invade with a second corps if needed and one is available. The screenshot shows two Russian corps landed at Stockholm but forced to withdraw. Part II of this improvement was to get the naval supply fleet to move to continue to support the landed forces, now not adjacent. In getting that to work, an issue was that sea area 699 to the east of Stockholm and land area 666 to the southwest of Stockholm kept coming up as being adjacent. They are obviously not adjacent, but I cannot determine how the map is coded to fix the map data directly. What I've done is to add a specific exclusion in the code for areas 666 and 699 to be nonadjacent.

This begs a question as to what other adjacent area issues there may be. If anyone is familiar with any other cases where two areas are treated as adjacent but they obviously are not, or two areas that are not treated as adjacent but they obviously are, then please let me know. This would include any land-land, land-sea, or sea-sea combinations. If you can let me know and I can verify, then I can add similar specific exclusions or inclusions in the code. Easy enough to do.
