Night ops and setting all aircraft

Post by wobbly »

Why does the "set all level bombers the same as this sqd" not work for night ops?
You have to manually go through and change the planes from day to night (and back again once you want them for day ops).

It usually works for me if I first set all of the squadrons I want individually to night operations and then use the "all" command to issue orders to that group. Squadrons set to "day" ops will be uneffected by these orders.

Fair enough - I didn't actually make myself clear. What I meant was why don't you copy night op orders across? Is this a feature?

What I want to be able to do is tell all my B-17s at Luganville to bomb Lunga at night. As it stands I have to go to each group, change them to night ops and tehn copy the orders to attack Lunga to them all. It is the individual change to each sqd I am wingeing about.

I agree it would be handy at times to be able to do that but I think it might cause problems in programming. As it is you can set all B17s operating in the day to bomb say, GG at 25,000 ft and set all B17s flying at night to bomb PM at 6000 ft (thereby attacking both targets and avoiding the worst of the AAA and fighters). Unless you add an entirely new level of options to the programming, you would have to give this up if you wanted to set B17s to night ops (they would all have to attack the same target, at the same altitude).

Agreed, if you want to set your different B-17 sqds to different tasks the copy orders function will not help. However, that is the case for all ops: no difference telling all my B-17s (on day duties) to attack Lunga if I want half to attack Tulagi. I will have to manually change the 2nd half to Tulagi myself.
