Buying colonies

Post by Thineboot »

I took the liberty and colonized an independent colony within the territory of another empire. The empire had colonized a planet by their own before. But since the independent were 640M vs 173M I've got control over the system. So what are people worth in DW2? The empire is willing to sell us 173M for 304,220 credits, that's 0.001758497 credits per colonist or 568.6674117 colonists per credit.

The troops have been disbanded and the stored resources are a free bonus.
The population is completely assimilated. Zenox are a vital part of our empire, but still they feel no problem being sold?
Only corruption has a slight increase from 11% to 13%, seems some people took advantage of getting rid of those aristocats :)

Is this really the intended behaviour?

Oh, yes, my first intend was to buy off their mining stations, but than I saw that the colony is for sale, too...

I do this regularly. If I control the territory - I buy out the colonies there. They're usually worth their cost.

In general, the AIs way undervalue their colonies and mining bases. For a few million, I can grab up a ton of resource producing mines and wage a sort of economic war on them.

Hell, even in the midst of a war, they'll sell such things to you! d'oh!

It's pretty unbalanced - and super foolish of them. Even outside of war, such mining bases ought to be worth a great deal since they represent continuous economy, and strategic access to raw materials in an area.

Why fight for them? Just buy them out whenever... :P

For the sake of argument, could we buy their homeworld... we could... at least with a bit additional money... I should really build less ships ;)

I forgot, another independent opened the door, 188M Ikkuros welcomed our 52M Humans before taking a look at the Mortalen finances... is this free market? I mean we have a few big companies which could do the same on Earth, buying whole countries... special financial operation...

Oh, yes, 133 more ships want to be fed, too...
