Impossible to play as Slaver Imperium

Impossible to play as Slaver Imperium
No idea if it was mentioned but right now its simply impossible to play as a slaver imperium, lets say as Boskara.
If you enslave a race on a Planet they start at some point revolting, no matter how strong your Garrison is.
Than the Problem starts.
They go of course beaten down (like 3k Garrison v. 600 rebel) but they damage also the Garrison Troops.
Right after beating them the happines goes up only to drop literally 1-2 days later back into revolting, this keeps repeating endlessly and with every revolt they damage the garrison a bit more, till its gone and they win.
You can move Troops into this Planet but it solves the problem not, it happens to them too, it only takes longer.
No idea if it was already mentioned but its need a solution....either no revolts based on garrion strenght or putting down a rebelion stops a new one for many years.

The revolts are too frequent, I agree. However, you can mitigate this with the existing systems by investing in improvements that bump up happiness and improve defensive strength. Also, make sure any planet you enslave is fully assimilated before you enslave them or the revolts will be much worse.

Unfortunatly its all here. Administration Center, Spaceport with medtier Medical and recreation facilities, they also full assimilated, its no use.Erik Rutins wrote: Thu Jul 21, 2022 5:03 pm The revolts are too frequent, I agree. Revolting starts and than its never ending no matter what you do.
The happiness jumps basically in 1 or 2 days from +13 (after rebelion put down) to -40 and than next rebellion till all your units are gone.
Re: Impossible to play as Slaver Imperium
it seems the Problem is the happiness of the revolting population, its goes down and down with every rebellion till -120 and more.
its a never ending loop that causes immidiatly the next rebellion and it goes not up.
Would suggest you make a hard lock *no rebellion* after a failed one for many many years so that happiness can go up.
And than to try fix the whole system

Agreed, do you have a save handy that can easily reproduce this? If so, please attach it here.

Re: Impossible to play as Slaver Imperium
What is the advantage of running a slave empire? The disadvantages are clear; I'm not aware of the advantages.Erik Rutins wrote: Thu Jul 21, 2022 5:03 pm The revolts are too frequent, I agree. Ideally, there would be clear trade-offs, not just negatives.
Edit: in my mind slavery should modify the risk of rebellion and productivity of a population against a given happiness (independent of assimilation). You get less productivity, but less risk of rebellion even if don't build all those admin centers or have a high assimilation - because you are running a brutal slaver colony.
And of course you get a massive reputational hit with non slaver empires.

Role play, I would imagine.AKicebear wrote: Thu Jul 21, 2022 6:33 pmWhat is the advantage of running a slave empire? Re: Impossible to play as Slaver Imperium
I think leaving something strictly to "role play" (imagination) is lazy development - especially since there is a enslave population policy. There should be trade-off.
It doesn't have to be strictly positive (not that I think the devs are so concerned about being PC). Maybe some races or government types should demand slaves - with the happiness of the main population influenced by the availability of slaves in some proportion to the main pop. The slaves themselves are a drag, but their existence help with other parts of the empire.

Re: Impossible to play as Slaver Imperium
The intended balance is higher immediate income from a population but at a long-term cost, with periodic revolts and lower happiness resulting in poor to negative population growth among enslaved populations, which leaves conquest/annexation as the main way to gain more slaves. At the same time, putting down the revolts can increase troop and general experience, but slavery will also damage your diplomatic reputation to a significant degree among other factions that do not use slavery as a population policy. It is intended that if you have built mitigating facilities and have full assimilation, revolts would be much less frequent.AKicebear wrote: Thu Jul 21, 2022 6:33 pmWhat is the advantage of running a slave empire? It is also there for role-playing some of the ruthless and evil factions.

Re: Impossible to play as Slaver Imperium
Besides the obvious modern-day earth connotations concerning slavery, why should it necessarily be a negative diplomatic hit among alien races? Did ancient Rome or Egypt (and most other civilizations) take a hit for slavery? I just bring it up as a sidebar to the discussion as I find it interesting that we assume our values will be widely accepted in the universe. Let's hope for our sake if earth is ever invaded by aliens they have a soft spot for our feeling are we aren't slaved out or just a food source.

They'd take one look at social media and decide it would be best to exterminate us on the spot.U235 wrote: Fri Jul 22, 2022 7:26 pm Besides the obvious modern-day earth connotations concerning slavery, why should it necessarily be a negative diplomatic hit among alien races? That's why the intention is that you only take a diplomatic hit with other factions that do not use slavery as a population policy.U235 wrote: Fri Jul 22, 2022 7:26 pm Besides the obvious modern-day earth connotations concerning slavery, why should it necessarily be a negative diplomatic hit among alien races? Re: Impossible to play as Slaver Imperium
That seems logical, but does it take into account past or present use of slaves? I can see the clear out rage, if an alien race opposes slavery, but would it not also be irrelevant to some species that might not have slave but don't care either way? Probably hard to model such nuances. Anyway, those with largest, most powerful fleets set the morality of the map. I haven't tried the slavery option so far, probably why I missed it.
