'Empty' 1939 map?

Post by Darthrafael »

Hello! Slightly potentially-unusual question here, but does anyone have a version of the default 1939 World at War map, but without any of the random events, ongoing wars and units? Essentially, just a blank canvas, with the bare minimum to play a multiplayer game?

I've been trying to make this myself, but messed up getting rid of the random events I didn't need/want, so figured I'd ask if anyone else has made something like this yet.

Do you mean that you want to remove literally all events, or just some of them that include randomisation?

The former is easy, the latter a lot of work!

If it's the former, the easiest thing to do would be to copy the files in the game's template folders and paste them over the relevant modded campaign's.

Then run the Update feature in the Editor so that the scripts will compile.

Basically what I want to achieve is like... an empty version of the standard world map, for me and a friend, where we can go about wars the way we want them to without having to worry about the initial Sino-Japanese War, German Invasion of Poland, and subsequent declarations-of-war, as well as other events that spring up as time goes on.

I'll try your solution, see if that works, but are there any events that are required for the game to actually work for stuff like declaring war/conquering nations/etc?

Possibly, as without any scripts the only way that countries will be able to enter the war is either via the diplomacy mechanism or by being declared war upon.

You might have to approach those aspects with a bit of trial and error!

I'm trying your method, it seems to work... almost perfectly, but I'm running into some weird error.

I've removed all the major powers' units and made all the minor powers independent/neutral, and now the 'Amphibious Minor' scripts refuse to update... at all. No matter how many times I click 'Update' or 'Update All', it just keeps throwing errors.

I've managed to fix this manually by just... clearing it out, but it's a little weird that the update feature just keeps failing.
