Lessons from today.

SS takes place during the waning days of the Soviet Union.
Today, quite a few of the senior officers of the Russian Army were junior or field officers in the late 80s and early 90s. The president is a former KGB officer, nurtured, recruited and trained by the Soviet regime.
We are in the seventh month of the Ukranian war and by no stretch of the imagination can we say that their tactical, operational, strategic or logistical performance has been up to scratch.
What to do with SS's algorithms for the Soviet player. The problem exists. Perhaps put a sliding thing under options for Russian competence: from "2022 standard" to "competent".
Just a thought.

No plans to change the way we perceive the Soviet forces of the 80s. You can, of course, go in and mod training and morale or change equipment values to suit your needs to test things out.
