What side is your Allegence to? The majority of your games are played as this side.

I hear you. I have a suspicion we have a higher number of Soviet players. But I could be wrong. Thank you for the vote Sir!

You just got to love the underdog that has such a bite, but its teeth get knocked out in winter ;-)

If you can survive the winter, 42 is German Paradise. I have had two PVP games into 44 as Germany and LOVE playing 42 the most. 44 can be a nightmare as my best friend put a hurt locker on me.

Thank you for your vote. Interesting to see Germany out front at the moment.

I have been playing the Russians most of the time versus my wargaming buddy. We started a new game, switched sides and he threw his hands up in frustration as he did not know had to do the basics as the Russians.

By the way I have both German and Russian ancestry so I can be a bit conflicted.

Hehehe, would be tough to appease both sides of the family tree! I see your point. Thank you for the vote. Which side did you choose if we may ask? :D

I would absolutely LOVE to know which side Mr. Grisby and Mr. Billings love the most to play :) If Mr. Billings could grace the forum with his and Mr. Grisby's favorite side to play that would be wonderful. Thank you in advance :D

I think that it is better for strong players to play for the Germans, otherwise the game will be boring. I'm a fairly strong player, although not a superman.

I play the Germans ( Axis ) because I like a challenge and to change history.

I know its Hard for The Soviets for at least the first 2 years but if they survive it becomes more like "the Hordes From Mordor " where wave after wave of Red Army troops just cover the land.

I'm not sure the word "allegiance" is the most appropriate for this question given that specific word's definition and strong nationalistic/political/ideological connotations. Maybe a more neutral word(s).

"devotion or loyalty to a person, group, or cause" is one definition of that word.

Maybe something like I am an "axis army enjoyer" or "soviet army-front connoisseur" lol.

I think also important besides the historical outcome, do you believe the Axis Europe could have won or a got a favorable negotiated peace.

I was watching "Where was the turning point" on the Internet. One possible view is that it was in '39 with the outbreak of war as the Axis was cutoff from Oil by the Royal Navy and had insufficient stores to fuel the conflict which was coming. I which case without truly exceptional events would the outcome have been changed. I think many feel that way about the Pacific Theater.

PS: For me these are just games and problem solving. I don't moralize about my choice.

I usually play Soviet but currently I am playing Axis.
Molotov : This we did not deserve.

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.

I would say that militarily the Germans could have held onto continental Western Europe indefinitely against the UK and assorted resistance movements. I think they could have held on to the initial Barbarossa conquests (Baltic States/Belorussia/Ukraine) as 'satellite states' for the short to medium term but in the long term (i.e. a much longer time frame than the historical one) would have eventually been overwhelmed by the much greater Soviet potential in terms of industry/manpower and been pushed back to their 'start lines'.

Historically I think that the war in Western Europe was unwinnable for the Axis from the point the USA joined the war and that the 'war goals' of the war against the Soviets (the destruction/subjugation of the Soviet state and it's various ethnic groups) were unachievable from the outset.

Re the original post - I wouldn't say I have a preferred side but at the moment mostly play Axis as for an inexperienced player they are easier to manage in terms of the numbers of 'moving parts'.
