[1278.1] db 496 Question about SM-6

Post by AceOfSpadeszzzzzz »

Hi all, I tried to do a test using sm-6 against fighters (480kt, 36000ft with radar off, regular proficiency, heading towards the ship), And then I realized that the missile always got outrun by the target that is out of 25 nm, also as the distance decreases the missile actually flies slower. (I did the measurement by comparing the speed at the point when a missile goes active) I don't see this in other missiles like hq-9 or s-400 - they don't have issues with at least reaching the target. May I ask is this a WAD? Thanks.

Agreed with above, noticed above too. Also, when setting the SM-6 WRA to NEZ, a fighter heading directly to the firing Ship itself will almost have to overfly the ship before the ship can initiate a launch…

That kind of makes it particularly useless as an area defense weapon.

I find that under current build, essentially the only use for the SM-6 against fighters is as a suppressive weapon whereby the best use of it is to shoot only 1 missile at any fighter at a time and eventually run it out of fuel.

Pretty sure that was fixed in B1278.1...?

Also, for the love of God: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 0&t=255656
2. Always post a save file (either autosave or manual save). Command is a complex simulation of how stuff works in the real world. The real world has a million variables that affect why something is happening and so does Command. Don't try to describe every variable - you can't. But the save file can.

4. Always create a new thread for your issue. Don't add your report to an existing thread even if the OP there looks 100% identical to your own. If you wish to report multiple potential issues then please create one thread for each issue, even if these were observed on the same game session.
Piling multiple issues on a single thread makes it much more difficult for the devs to keep track of what is resolved and what is still pending. This means less time & energy for the devs to resolve your issue.
