ELO Ghosting.. Bad Sportsmanship

Post by kjgokc2007 »

It is bad sportsmanship to take an ELO game then when things are going bad start a new game and ghost the other player taking up his/her game time that you no longer want to play....

If you don't want to play a game resign and move on... don't start new games if you can't play the ones you got going...

Have the balls to say I'm done... and resign like a man if you don't want to play.

P.S. You will be a much better player playing a loosing game vs a good player vs playing a winning game vs a bad player. I have learned much more from my losses than I would ever learn from my victories.

It is annoying when that happens, it happened to me 2 times.
Could you be more specific: Who is ghosting whom?

There's only one Holy Ghost.
The rest, well aren't Holy.
Friends don't let friends, ghost.
Vote 'No' this election, to ghosting.

Hello, not trying to sidetrack thread but I figured with your frustration (which I agree with, especially in this game,) you might be able to tell me what is ELO? I tried a search but because everyone uses ELO its hard to find what this means. Also people seem to use it as a set of rules (E.g. 1. No diplo on Majors 2. No diplo on Bulgaria 3. No DOW USSR until 1941. 4. No early provoking of Italy in order to immediately attack it) -- but your post seems to indicate it is a tournament ladder or ranking ladder of some kind? I also tried searching "what is ELO?" but no luck. :)

If there is a link to a page or thread that explains this I would appreciate it. I am interested in playing but it seems most want ELO. Thanks in advance for your time!

Generally ELO is a tournament rating system:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elo_rating_system

Here specifically the term refers to the World at War ELO tournament. You can join and post games here:

Explanations are in the threads first post.

And you can see the scores here:

The ELO Games helps you find good players and learn a lot about the game fast. Even if you loose a few games at first you will be a much better player in the end... I know I have learned a lot and still learn more with each new opponent.

I wish the standard use your User Name as the PW would have been included so that it would be easier to find games without going though the Forms to find one....

or a standard ELOGame PW or something to let everyone know all they have to do is see a PW game and try the PW to get started.

Comments on the Game matching interface would help a lot!
