Campain Mods not working

Post by Jack59 »

I have been unable to use campaign mods loader in my games\SC3\campaigns\. I have the Matrix Community Pack and all of its Mods appear load game menu. Maybe the menu is full? How do I get other mods listed in the forum to load?

Have the mods been placed in the USER folder, e.g. typically this path here:

\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War in Europe\Mods

The only other consideration is to ensure the mods have been structured properly with a 'folder' and the 'mod.ini' file within that folder etc.

I have copied to \users\user name\documents\my games\SC3e\mods\_1940 Operation Seelowe. It appears as a mod, but not in the campaign list. Mod.ini says #ENABLED= 0

If it is just a custom campaign it does not need to go into the USER mods folder, simply place it in the USER campaigns folder.

e.g. the campaign file and campaign subfolder should go into this folder:

\Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War in Europe\Campaigns

Let me know if that gets it going for you, as the Mods folder is more for graphical, sound or other media modifications.

That goes back to the original post. I put the mods in: \Users\<username>\Documents\My Games\Strategic Command WWII - War in Europe\Campaign. Before the community pack was available I put campaign Mods here and they worked fine. The community pack mods were some of the ones I had originally added. After playing SC World at War and American Civil War. I found some interesting newer Mods in the Forum list of mods. These have not appeared in the single player campaign list. The original game had been tweaked by the older methods of adding mods, so maybe I need to uninstall and install from scratch? Having said that this game is installed on a newer computer and my last suggestion is unlikely to be a problem. Maybe I am using an out of date community pack, has there been any updates to the Community Pack? I um using the latest v1.25.00 update. Again, the single player campaign list seems to be full. Is there a way to scroll the list or remove campaigns? I have tried hiding two of the Community campaigns in a separate folder and I have two blank spots in the list. The newer mods I am trying do not appear.
I have been thinking about making a first time mod myself and was hoping to learn from the Seelowe mod.

It could then be the case that the custom campaigns you've found are from before the v1.15 major update that we put into place, and conceivably, if they are, then it is possible they are just not showing up in the selectable campaign list as they would be incompatible with the current version of the game.

Reason being is that v1.15 made some major changes to the data structures, and if those older campaigns were not updated, then they just will not work.

Outside of that, placing any custom campaign in your USER Campaigns folder should work, and for the Community Pack campaigns, they just reside in their own Community Pack folder and have a special flag associated with them that the game recognizes them as Community Pack campaigns. Placing custom campaigns in the Community Pack folder will not work for that reason.

If however you have found newer versions of the Community Pack campaigns, e.g. not the ones that ship with the game, then those too will have to be placed in the USER Campaigns folder as they will not have 'official' status and are not flagged as 'Community Pack' campaigns for the game engine to recognize.

And no, the list shouldn't ever get full, as there are 'page' control buttons that will appear allowing you to navigate to the next page of campaigns if applicable.

It could also be that you might be attempting to load a custom campaign from Strategic Command WWII World at War?

One other thing you can try is to delete the associated .dat file that was generated with the campaign when the game tried to load it and then see if it loads after that when it is re-generated.

Thanks Mr. Carter. I am concluding the campaigns are too old for version 1.15.
