Tournament Suggestion

Post by kjgokc2007 »

Instead of playing the same player as Axis and Allies... I would suggest you mix up the games so you have two different opponents each round.

This prevents one player just following your lead if you go first and might give more mixed result than totally destroying one player on both sides because you are much more experienced than they are.

I will also be more likely to get some play time if you draw a bye on one of the games.

Just an Idea.

I would also suggest if you have no activity in the first week that you take all those players and reassign them to each other and disqualify the inactive players.

/cheers

Thanks for the feedback and I've forwarded it to the PBEM server team.

You really need to give each game in the round to two different Opponents. You just see the other player copying your moves on there turn.

What happens if you don't finish a game because your only getting 1 turn a day?

What I think you should do is let active games continue until finished or someone resigns and adjust the scores on all active games.

Points are still scored even if the game is not finished, so it's best to fight as well as possible.

That just leads to people just not playing when they start to loose... that is broken.

How you win and how you lose are all taken into account, e.g. you may lose but you may still fight hard to the end to potentially deny your opponent points. This is why games are mirrored, e.g. you can lose in one game, but win in another one and the collection of points from both games matter, for yourself and for your opponent.

If you stop playing you only penalize yourself, as the server will penalize you, and it could end up providing your opponent with more points versus if you made their victory as painful as possible.

My last opponent didn't even play at all and I got no Points added on to my score for it at all.... In fact I got your 75 Points added to each game that put me 39 points behind the leader, that is not how round robin works brother, byes are equal to the top player in a round robin format. That is typically why you want a bye, but you have to play the top players in the 2nd round. And there can only be one bye in a round robin format for any odd player. So now I am starting over 1/2 a game behind the other top players... that just is not fair.

This format needs some work brother....

Playing the same player just lets them see your moves then they copy them... you should NOT be playing the same player in both games....

I hope you work to fix these issues because this format is broken as it is....

Fair enough and just a reminder to keep in mind that we are guests on the PBEM server, e.g. all Matrix games that use the server, use the same setup, and my explanations on how it all works are just a forwarding of the system info from those that run and maintain the server on the Matrix side of things.

I agree that nothing is perfect and without the possibility of improvement, and your best bet is if you have ideas/suggestions for improvement is to contact Matrix directly, e.g. Matrix support, as they will be better suited to provide more specific feedback and be in the only position to make any actual changes.

Having an opponent that wont play their turns is really bad. This is broken... You need to do something to fix this...

Anyone not doing turns should take huge hits on their score and be forced to resign their games.

a Player should be expected to do Number of turns a day/week that would allow for the game to be finished or forced to resign. They should be aware of the time requirements before signing up to play in the Tournament.

I am getting 1 turn a day if I am lucky... this is BS.

I would be glad getting a turn per week.
My opponents stopped playing after a few turns in both rounds.

What BS... my last game where I was winning decisively was worth less than my bye round... your tournament system blows brother... just because my opponent quit.

I wont be playing in any more of them... waste of time.

* I got a whopping 3 points added for him not moving and quitting my game... You need to update your stalemate calculations to what is really going on in the game. I hate losing because of this BS.
