Interdiction???? What is this you speak of?

Post by DeletedUser1769703214 »

I am just going to post the pictures. You be the judge if "Interdiction" is worth it. I am about to find out in my game since these snapshots are from that game turn 1 as a Soviet player. (I did mess up my bombing hexes on the level 9 since some of those bombers were supposed to go to other hexes. Oh well, I should have double checked them before running the Air phase :( But did I mention I got a level 9 interdiction? lol)

It's good but not amazing. (Interdiction can't really be amazing.) The German units will route around the "8" and "9" hexes, so what truly matters are the minimum values on each route which are around 2-4. Most of the Soviet benefit is actually derived from denying administrative movement in woods and at the river crossings.

I did not show my unit placement, since yes I am defending right next to those 8 and 9 level interdictions ;-) But yes you are correct on interdiction as a whole. But I should have never had the level 9 since a great many of those bombers should have gone to other hexes on more than a couple of the sorties. Yes, I messed up. Center's bombing I am not happy with. The North interdiction on the other hand in the 2nd photo I am very happy with. Just trying new things of course and will probably backfire on me big time since defending next to Germans on turn 2 as Soviets is "suicide". But I just gotta know.

Yes, you read that correctly in that last post. I am defending right on top of those Germans there. (they will get a delay attacking out of it with units connected)

I think the most bang for the buck is AS AD, and the lower down chain you AD, the more planes you pull. So, it is important to know who will be where the rubber meets the road.

I once did a whole scenario of interdiction of rail; think to counter balance their fort levels. When over, I flipped sides/loaded and examined the true impact. A total waste of planes and pilots! SU engineers and some HQ arty is what you need.

I will let the picture posted by my opponent, Jasonbroomer, speak to if "interdiction" is worth it or not. Also notice his MP's through the interdiction that was put across the river (which adds more MP's too btw) to move across because of the interdiction. I mentioned Interdiction a key component 5ish months ago to be used. You as the reader can be the judge yourself if it is a waste or not. I personally love it.

I would "love" it if Jasonbroomer would be so kind to show the MP's of 4th PZ units that were in the interdiction hexes. Again, Thank you Jasonbroomer for showing the German side of the "interdiction" result.

I guess the 12ish MP's are what was left over from the attacks? I don't know since Jasonbroomer will have to answer that.

HLYA - great post. I am playing my first human vs. human game and the first time as Soviet and I was thinking interdiction would be useful to try to slow those panzers. What are your directive settings for interdiction?
