Kobiyashi Maru III

Post by Seminole »

Seeking long haul opponent for Stalingrad to Berlin.

Want an opponent more interested in battling to the end and seeing what that is, rather than winning.

Open to house rules to try and maintain a historical and fun sim.

I’ve played Grigsby’s Eastern Front games for over three decades, so if you don’t think you’re likely to be interested in trying to finish this game in what could be a real world year from now, please kindly let someone else accept.

I can be slow with turns sometimes because it’s huge game, and real life leaves a small gaming window until the kids are gone and I retire. For now I’d rather take my time and enjoy contemplating strategy (and drafting the AAR) than rushing and regretting a half dozen things I didn’t get around to doing over and over.

I can’t get the same thrill playing the AI. I want that special glee of putting coal in someone’s stocking when they open up the turn.

So c’mon, and help me write a crazy WW2 story with this engine!

You may want to indicate what side, if any, you are wanting to play.

I'm open to either side.
More interested in seeing the end result.

My first attempt at this scenario as the Soviets my opponent resigned after a few turns. I did use it as an opportunity to show that the current iteration of infantry motorization is overpowered, so I don't really blame the opponent on that one.

Second attempt at this scenario was as the Germans, but again motorization vexed my opponent and they resigned on the second or third turn.

Third iteration was again as Germans, only using motorization in controlled hexes, but it appears this match is withering on the vine at turn 10.

I'd prefer to try and conduct the strategy I had underway for the Germans, but wouldn't mind trying to build and wield a Soviet juggernaut after so many games as a punching bag until someone resigns in first winter.

Biggest thing is, do you think you'll still want to play this game a year from now?
I will.

If you would be alright with this https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 3&t=389881 we could start a game. Not necessarily 1 turn per week but I play very slow as well. Just need to rename it Stalingrad to Baku if I play as soviets I guess.
