Issue with 'Black horse' scenario (maybe game in general)

The new Cold War turned hot wargame from On Target Simulations, now expanded with the Player's Edition! Choose the NATO or Soviet forces in one of many scenarios or two linked campaigns. No effort was spared to model modern warfare realistically, including armor, infantry, helicopters, air support, artillery, electronic warfare, chemical and nuclear weapons. An innovative new asynchronous turn order means that OODA loops and various effects on C3 are accurately modeled as never before.

Issue with 'Black horse' scenario (maybe game in general)

Post by MTTODD »

Hi, Playing the 'Black horse' scenario noticed two things:

1)Either though my US units are firing 'Stingers' & various other fire at Hind helicopters, they are just not getting shot down. Have tired game multiple times and Hinds just dominate the battlefield. So my question is 'Should Hinds be so difficult to shoot down' ? They were not in Afghanistan & other wars have demonstrated how vulnerable helicopters are to manpads.

2)AT-11 sniper anti-tank missiles seem to be able to hit with unnerving accuracy even at ranges of 4000 meters. Were they really that accurate at those ranges ?

Was thinking of purchasing 'Southern storm' but worried that these same issues will apply to the new game.

Appreciate any help.

Many thanks.

Hinds are a tough one to knock down at times in Red Storm. ATGMs can be accurate at longer ranges, and is part of the reason the Soviets have them on tanks for shots beyond 2km.

As for these items in Southern Storm, the entire framework for the coding of spotting and combat has been redone from the ground up, and the data detail is more defined as well. Both items are different in the new game engine.
OTS is looking forward to Southern Storm getting released!
