Surface Search Radar Ring Missing

Issue: any unit with both air and surface radar will only display air search radar ring. Units with only surface search radar will display ring, or arcs. Unclear if surface radar is WAD in this situation.

Haven't looked at it yet, but make sure one of the other range circles doesn't overlap the SS radar.

Using Chaffe as example,
If the Air and Surface range are the same, it is only going to show one color; the other ring would have been under it.
Turning off the Air ring, the Surface ring showed.

Yea, I get that. But even with every ring turned off and only the surface search one on... I get nothing. So I apparently have something borked on my end. Maybe.

Don't know where to start to remedy this. Reinstall? Seems... harsh.

The sensor needs to be active to see the ring. I had to turn them on to get the images

The surface radar is on/active.

The option to show it on the map is on.

I think I've got a local issue if nobody else is seeing this. No idea what it might be but I'll pick at it for a while.

I'm on 1300.1 and I was seeing the same problem with the surface radar ring not appearing. I didn't try to figure out why I was to busy getting beat up by the chinese in the SCS. then low and behold someone posted about the same issue. I will attempt to see if its me Tuesday.

For what it's worth... this issue transcends database versions with build 1300. I loaded up an old scenario I've toyed around with on DB493, another on DB495 and the issue persists. Only single units. Only those with both air and surface radar. Looked at all my settings and I can't find an issue there. I'll keep poking at it during the week....

Its the same for some AWACS, E-7 Wedgetail or E-3 Sentry for example. The yellow ring doesn't show even if you turn of the white ring.

Played with this a bit. Its the LCS and its AN/SPS-77 radar that seems to specifically have the issue. The USS Freedom with the SPS-75 the USS Indianapolis with the TRS-4D have the same issue. There might be other ships with the issue, but I have found dual air and surface radars that don't seem to have the issue. The only difference I can see is that the wording in the role column is inconsistent.

My question is if its just a display issue or if the radar is actually not coming on.

edit: I guess my other question is if these types of radars don't have a separate air/surface mode. It would seem that once energized, its all on.

edit2: Its not just that it is both an air and surface radar, it appears from my quick look that its radars that have a simultaneous air and surface mode. IIRC, in older CMO versions, the surface modes for advanced radars in E2s and E3s showed up separately and were shorter than the air mode ranges.

You're not alone - this issue appears for me too (version 1307) for dual air and surface radars. While not game-breaking, since the surface radar still works, it would be useful to see the ring - since for most dual air and surface radars (E-3, Sea King ASaC), the max detection range at altitude of the air radar is greater than the surface radar.

Point the platform at 0 degrees true north and the ring shows up I noticed this as an awacs that is circling the surce search ring shows up when plane sweeps past 360/0 degrees

If you observed this issue and can run the 1328.1 beta, please check if this issue still occurs there. We implemented a fix for surface search radar rings in the beta.

This is what I have seen also. I'm using 1307.14. No biggie for me since the ranges are the same (for AEW aircraft. E3's, Hawkeyes, etc.) and I still get surface detections when in range.
