Multiple strikes by a single unit

Post by vonotha »

I wonder whether the new mission planning system will allow to plan multiple successive strikes for a single unit, regardles of completion of the preceding strikes.

Imagine there is a balistic missile submarine and two targets. Directly after releasing a first wave of missiles, its commander would like to fire another one with different objective.

Currently, it seems he must wait till the first wave hits the target or is intercepted.

Or maybe I've missed something :)

It is even stranger...

Seems, it is possible to launch concurently two strikes ('packages') from the same unit, WHEN the first one completed.

Not in my experience although a save file would go a long way to showing this. We'll see how things land next week, but things seem to work well enough to build and play.

The bigger picture, though is there is more than one way to do this. Try just setting up two strike missions with the same TOT.

The mission or launching?

Since the new version of the game has recently launched, please give me some time to re-check the issue.

I'm currently trying to create a quite events/scripts-heavy scenario using the War Planning version, and testing is quite time consuming.

So far, successfuly used dynamic targets allocation with two targets and three attacking groups. Initial issue arised when trying to launch two missile strikes at two separate targets from a single sub. This scenario is still waiting for a re-test.

How do you guys plan this kind of setup?

Here I have a Arleigh Burke with 56 RGM-109E Tomahawks ready to take out some radars in a fictional scenario attached.

I built a Taskpool
1 package (Wave #1) for the radars on the coast with a TOT of 21:30 and added the Arleigh Burke as the assigned unit.
and
1 package (Wave #2) for the radars further inland with a TOT of 21:50. I could not add the Arleigh Burke because it is attached to Wave#1.

How to use these ships and subs with so much TLAM capacity for a large string of targets?
Should this be done with mission waiting for trigger/triggerd/satisfied?

And a little bit related:
I also like to plan the route of the Tomahawks but I cannot set the button in EMCON/Anti-Surface Warfare / Use missile waypoints to yes. It automatically jumps to Inherited No
And flightplans cannot be made for these cruise missiles..?

My scenario is as follows:

There are two valid targets and SSBN. I've verified the SSBN fires nuclear missiles at either target when it is a target of an unlinked mission.

However the SSBN doesn't fire, when it is assigned to two two missions. Assigning a single unit to multiple missions is possible in the new CMO version using the Dynamic alocation mechanics.

Dynamic allocation seems to work when multiple units are assigned to multiple targets. But there is a problem assigning a single unit to multiple missions.

Additionally, my goal was to "force" the SSBN to more or less simultaneously fire at different targets, instead of waiting for a conclusion of the first one. Such multiple-engagement is quite natural for many types of units in 'real life'.

It is possible to execute strikes in this way, when controling unit manually. But I was looking for an automated solution.

Retested in CMO v1.05 Build 1307.

Dynamic allocation doesn't work here:

Have you tried assigning both targets to one mission and setting the WRA to 1 missile each?
