Percentage number in attack crosshair?

Percentage number in attack crosshair?

Post by Galeocerdo »

Great game.
Occasionally, a red percent value (i.e. 26%) will appear inside the attack crosshair on enemy units. Anyone know what exactly that value is telling me?
Thanks,

Also wondering the same thing. Sometimes appears for ranged attacks, sometimes doesn't. Does not appear to correspond to any numbers in the attack setup box.

I found this response from Vic way back..

"it's the % of the weapons efficacy compared to a regular attack (combination of distance + line of sight %)"

After 2 minutes of playing around, I interpret this to mean: the strength of a ranged attack with the selected unit only, relative to the strength of a regular attack with the same unit (assuming you can get close enough without getting intercepted).

So, if a percentage is shown, it means a regular attack will be better (by some measure). If a percentage is not shown, then a ranged attack will be better. Not sure what 0% means. For example, if 53% is shown, it means that the ranged attack is only 53% as powerful (?) as a regular attack by the same unit.

In the tech support forum, I posted a related question, which I think is just a bug: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 7&t=397057. The reticles (and percentages) are still shown even when the selected unit has 0 AP. I guess the percentage means the same thing (although I wonder how either kind of attack can be more "efficacious" with 0 AP).
