Taking Leningrad Yes/No?

Dear Wargamers,

I recently started playing WitE2 full campaign live on twitch stream (german only). This will also be a quite big Lets Play on YT later this year (starting 22th June).

I am just 3 Turns in and making quite good progress. Pskov is taken, Smolensk isolated and ripe to be taken next turn and in the south I built huge pockets advancing 5 hexes past Vinnitsa.
Now I think about how viable the strategy would be to cancel the advance to Leningrad at all, advancing and securing just the Narva, Novgorod, Vyshniy Voloshek-Line. This would set the 4.PzGr free to swing to Moscow and probaly freeig all or parts of the 2.PzGr to help the 1.PzGr in the south.

Do you have some advice for me wether this is a good or bad idea? I am very interested on your take regarding this strategy.

Generally you take Lenningrad 41 or not at all I think (depends a bit on settings and priorities but it will be much much harder later), but there are many ways to play and the real importance isn't to take any specific cities but destroy the red army and if you play early ending keep above the early end limits.

Personally I like the pacing of Lenningrad and Sevastropol in 41, Moscow 42 and finishing up with a 43 southern-eastern campaign as germany. But I'm also the kind of person who sends my panzers to france for R&R if it is snowing too much...

Take Leningrad as soon as you can then send 4th Pz Armee South to help at Moscow, even if you don't take Moscow in 41 your in a good position in 42.
Taking Leningrad will free up 1 entire Armee, and come "The First Winter " you will need the reserves.
