Strange Behavior with SDB-II Land strike

Post by captainwolf »

Build Version: Command v 1.05 - Build 1307
I have a flight of 4 F/A-18F Superhornet Blk III striking two reactor buildings with SDB-IIs. After the SDB II launch, the following happens:
- Flight leader follows the flight plan
- The 3 other fighters don't behave the same way every time, despite not changing anything
-- Between 0-3 of them follow the SDB-IIs towards the target
-- Between 0-3 of them fly at a 90 degree angle from the direction the SDB-II were launched
- Once the Flight Lead reaches the Landing Marshal Point, he leaves the flight, and at that point all 3 other fighters turn and follow the flight plan again.

Notes:
- The Fighters are using a pre-generated flight plan, that is part of the save
- Mission is set for a TOT attack to land at 20:25:00

We'll need to examine this in detail, but I have an explanation specifically for this:
fly at a 90 degree angle from the direction the SDB-II were launched
This is the terminal-SALH guidance behavior kicking in; because the SDB-II has a SALH seeker (in addition to its INS/GPS, MMW and IIR guidance) the aircraft are maneuvering in such a way as to provide laser illumination shortly before impact (and also avoid overflying the target).

We'll probably need to add a "do this ONLY if laser guidance is actually going to be needed" logic clause.
