before buying

Hello, I would like a little information before buying. I'm in doubt between this and the Warplan.

What are the differences in general?

how is the AI? I would play alone against the AI, how good is it?

I also see that this is much more complex than Warplan,

thank you

Well I can strongly recommend this one. I don't know warplan.

I love the strategic and tactical overlay (i.e. the vastness of the game). While you can assign the AI to do the details for you, it is amazing the level of detail in the game. You learn and learn playing this game, as you peel through the layers of the onion. I marvel at the design features in the game. It has inspired me to read loads about the eastern front.

I believe the AI to be pretty good. I was really impressed that the Soviets AI can muster the occasional counterattack into over extended Axis in 1941. That said playing another player is when the real fun starts. The AI is a solid opponent as you learn the game though.

However, this is no beer and pretzel game. The UI is time consuming to get to grips with (I suggest youtube to learn about it) and takes some months to master. It is a time sink and slow moving at times, so perhaps not for everybody. However, if you are interested in an historical, and potentially historic game, and you can put the time and effort in - wow!
