Startup Problem W10

Post by Packo »

Hello, I still have a CD version of WITP
and I probably played it last time with Windows XP.
Today I tried it on Windows 10.
Installation incl. new patch no problem.
Current - Version 1.8.11.26A is displayed to me.
OK ???
The game can be started without any problems and you can also enter the scenario.
Only 3 green glowing letters in the upper left corner are unknown to me and conspicuous from the start ( NIS )
But when I go to the desktop for some reason
the problems begin.
After returning to the game, all the writing will look like screen 2.
So if I don't exit the game to desktop I can play WITP as normal !
Of course it's unplayable.
Can someone help me here?
Greeting

Ps. Unfortunately, my English is not good enough to fight through the forum quickly !

You need to install text "switches" in your shortcut so this old game can talk to Win 10. See the thread on Slow Performance for details and illustrations. Once you understand what each switch can do, you can install them yourself or install SeaBee Alpha utility to do that for you.

Just make sure you have a shortcut that points to the game executable "War In The Pacific Admiral Edition", NOT the one that points to the menu program Autorun.exe.

This tool is probably the fastest way to get the game set up for your enjoyment. You can adjust the switches later for your preference.

There are some people here who also don't have a form of English as their first language.

Ranger Joe und BBfanboy, I thank both of you !
Unfortunately, as expected, it doesn't seem to be that easy.
Today I have no more Nerves for it but I will deal with it in the next few Days.

You are most welcome.

But please try Seabee. It appears that you might need the "altfont" for your displaying the letters. But Seabee should resolve most if not all of your issues.
