Tankers and aircraft heading for tankers ignore No-Nav zones

Post by Broccy »

Noticed this by accident in a home made scenario I have in the Middle East.

Aircraft (or, at least some aircraft) will enter a No Nav zone in order to take a direct route to tanker aircraft on the other side. They will also re-enter the NNZ to fly back to their mission station on the most direct route.
I have created a simple scenario (attached) which demonstrates this.

A P-8 aircraft on an ASW mission to the south of the No-Nav zone will auto navigate through the NNZ to get to an A330 tanker on the north side. If you run the save game at full speed (theres only three aircraft so it only takes seconds) you'll see the P-8 enter the NNZ at approx 1800Z.

Sometimes (not always) the A330 will also enter the NNZ while on its patrol.

The F-35 on the other hand will normally navigate around the NNZ.

The NNZ appears to be working otherwise, you cannot order aircraft into it, they will not accept those orders, and you can see the F-35 navigating around it.

Is this supposed to happen? I wondered if it was some sort of emergency procedure thing but in my original Middle East scenario the P-8s home base was actually closer than the tanker so it could have just flown home.
