[1307.12] Only flight Leader fires standoff weapons during land strike mission

Post by boogabooga »

Please see attached. The WRA doctrine should allow one AGM-84E per target. The expectation is that all four strike aircraft will launch all eight available missiles against the eight targets at once. It seems though that only the strike leader fires at two targets, then heads home while the wingmen chase the missiles some distance (!?) before turning for home without firing.

I experienced a very similar problem on ASuW mission yesterday, and I will post a report tomorrow.
I guess, shooter per salvo's "fire wpn from enough units to fill the qty requirement" is broken.

Here is something different from my ASuW mission (which has only one target). I tried your scenario, change the setting to "2 units" shooter per salvo. The wingmen fired their missiles, but all the missiles are aiming at first two targets. Tried this several time. it is always first target got 5 missiles, second one got 2 missiles. There is one missile didn't fire

change the setting to 4 units. Then it is 3 targets engaged with all 8 missiles fired, 1st one got 4 missiles, 2nd one got 3 and 3rd one got 1.

Another phenomena observed in both your scenario and mine is, the wingmen will not fire their missiles simultaneously. There is some delay on the missile firing.

It's something about the mission though...if I unassign the flight and do an 'auto engage target' on the ensemble of targets, then each target gets one SLAM assigned to it, as expected.

Still an issue in 1307.14.

I can confirm, still an issue.
All this time I've been thinking that I've been setting stuff up wrong.

As a newer player, I didn't even realize that this was a bug. I simply assumed it was impossible to get a flight of more than one aircraft to target more than one thing at a time.

I'll confirm that regardless of WRA settings only the flight leader will fire. Once those weapons have impacted, the next unit in the flight will fire, and so on. This is sort of ok for conventional bombing when using a split attack (if the weapons land in the 20-40 seconds before the next unit arrives), but is completely unworkable with standoff weapons: the leader will fire and crank or turn off, but the rest of the group will suicidally follow the weapons in and overfly the target.

The only workaround is to use flights of 1 unit, which rather defeats the purpose of groups.
