[1.1.3.4] Typo : A Destroyed Fortress World

Post by Thineboot »

GameEvent : Third Ancient Planet (Human)

\data\GameEvents.xml : lines 14881-14483
14881: In context, it should be perfect tense, survived, not present tense, survives. But that's just my gut feeling.
14882: two tabs
14883: two more tabs and the text displayed is intended.

depends on what the report is intending to convey.

Using 'survives' implies that the surface is currently hostile to life and anything that goes there dies.

Using 'survived' is saying that the attack was so severe that all life was oblitered even to the point that all organisms of decay were wiped out as well, such that even the corpses of those killed years ago remain preserved. (tho I find this higly unlikely as even without biological decomposers and detritivores, there's still weather erosion that'll clear any corpses fairly quickly. IMHO for any 'ancient' corpses to remain would require near vacuum conditions)

at least that's the subtle distinction I believe the two wordings provide.
I don't believe there's anything truly wrong grammatically with either construct.

But hey, it's a video game and trying to generate a modicum of drama from a short sentence isn't easy.

just my 2 cents. lol

Yes, that's why I've said But that's just my gut feeling.
It makes more sense if you read the whole thing, but spoiler alert...

Normally they use "\n", not real new lines, and the inserted tabs cause the intend. And the final "," is definitely a typo ;)
