SOLVED: 5.0.0.1 Strange bug at Naval Overrun?

Post by Angeldust2 »

File attached at Land Combat Resolution. Choose assault for Athens. Enter 20 for land combat roll.
Now first irregularity happens: MWIF jumps immediately to Naval Overrun, even before advance after combat is handled. I think, this is wrong. Attacker could choose to not advance at all, avoiding any naval overrun.
In Athens there are 8 Greek CP + 1 CA. MWIF starts to roll for naval overruns, but stops after rolls for 2 CP + CA. I think, there should be rolls or all CP + CA.

Can somebody confirm this as a bug? Is it specific to Athens or to other special circumstances? Has anybody encountered something similar?

Okay, I believe now, MWIF jumps directly to Naval Overrun, even before Advance After Combat, because a Paradrop was involved and successful, so Athens will be occupied for sure. But what is causing to stop the rolls for the other ships?

Of course, if the city has been taken by PARA, the ships have been overrun from that moment. No need that other units move there for the overrun, Then you must have had a digression for that, and later on you can complete your Advance after Combat.

Seems to work fine for me assuming this is not the surprise invasion impulse but one after. As far as I can tell the Greeks have 1 CA & 2 CPs flipped & 6 CPs not flipped. The paradrop overruns the naval base after the successful assault. The 6 organized CPs are overrun, flipped & must rebase. No overrun roll is necessary (unless this was the surprise impulse). After rolling for the 1 flipped CA & 2 CPs I then was brought to the rebase screen. In my case both flipped CPs managed to escape for a total of 8.

Yes, it was not the surprise impulse. So only flipped naval units will roll for overrun? This would indeed explain the behaviour of MWIF.

Sure, all are overruned, which means they suffer some effects, sometimes rebase sometimes roll.

The Overrun makes them just rebase unless they:

1 are surprised, or
2 are flipped (disorganized)

Only in these two cases you need to roll.
