Clipboard not working

I just tried to save the results of a battle to the clipboard, but got an "Can not Open Clipboard" error message. See Below:

Hey thanks for the report! Do you have a save you could upload that demonstrates the issue?

Unfortunately, I'm out of the battle now, so I'll have to wait until the next battle for a save game. Which files will you need?

I run into this same problem constantly. The game will export just a portion of a file. Hitting the export button repeatedly will sometimes result in a complete export but sometimes it takes 20 or more attempts before this happens, and sometimes it will simply refuse to export anything other than a few lines. Large battle results, in particular, are very difficult to export.

Here's a save game at several points late in the game of a small (1 CL v. 2 CL) engagement. I'm not sure what files you need, so I'm giving what I see in the save game folder. Let me know if there are any issues.

I'm not sure if this one will work. It is taken immediately after the won the scenario, but before I went back into the main game / strategic layer. Let me know if it doesn't work, and I'll try again.

I tested the save out - I was able to copy all results to the clipboard with no issues, including results from the next battle. I suspect this is likely an issue specific to your machine; either Windows is not allowing clipboard access for the game, or Windows cannot access the clipboard with the game for some reason.

A few questions to hopefully narrow this down:

a) Do you have any third-party clipboard utility running?
b) Do you have any issues copying text to the clipboard from any other application?

Try clearing your clipboard history to see if that helps: Press Win + V to summon the clipboard tab and then click the 'Clear all' button to remove all copied items from your clipboard.

As jwsmith26 above does point out, if the amount of data is massive it may be too large for the game to copy...this is a limitation of the game engine I think, but in your case the data is not large and should copy just fine.

Thank you for the response. I've played another small scenario (1 CL v. 1 CL) with the same results: the game won't copy to the clipboard. I don't have any 3rd party clipboard applications running, and I ensured that the clipboard was cleared at the time using the Win + V you suggested above. I have had no trouble using the clipboard with any other program. My Computer and Software specs are below:

I've looked at this some more, and honestly can't yet find any reason why you should not be able to copy text. There is likely some some system-specific reason why this is happening as this issue is very rarely reported, the trick is to find out what is blocking it in this specific case.

I'll do more research and see if I can find any other potential causes/fixes for this.

I have the same problem and found a solution.
Try closing Excel and any other spreadsheet/notepad programs that you have open, then make sure your clipboard is clear using Win+V, then click "Copy to Clipboard". Finally open the spreadsheet program and paste it in. It worked for me that way.

I'm having a similar issue. When I copy to clipboard, I get the same error message. When I press Win+V, I see that part of the data was copied, but not all of it. It's interesting too, because upon multiple attempts, I can see that the amount of data copied varies. Below is the partial copies, separated by dashed lines. The last one or two are when I tried spamming copy to clipboard and hitting 'OK' on the error message, to test whether it would become more complete after each iteration, but it truly seems to be rather random. Note: I also tried closing all Excel and notepad instances after the first few attempts - it doesn't seem to have made a difference in my case.

I tried zipping the save folder to post here, but it exceeds the allowable file size for attachments on the forum by 1-2MB. Is there some other medium I can use to send it? My save is in the 1950s at the moment, which might contribute to the size. I tried asking on the discord if there were any files I could omit, but from what I've heard all files within the folder are required for the save to work. This issue has persisted throughout the entire playthrough, so playing further has not affected the issue.


As a side note I also found another bug, unrelated, when I accidentally saved during a battle and quit. When I loaded it back up, I was getting nonstop spammed with error messages relating to the LaunchSearchAircraft procedure (access violation at address 006D4D3F. I unfortunately don't have the save file for that as I didn't make a backup, but I was able to spam ENTER to finish the battle, so next time I experience that issue, if there is a next time, I will make a post for it.
