How to set a timed strike on a target without going hostile

Post by maverick3320 »

Hello everyone. I'm playing Mediterranean Fury 1 (again) and the scenario starts with the player as the USSR, with Turkey and Greece neutral and approximately 45 minutes until you can declare hostilities (1300Z). the mission is to strike Turkey hard and knock it out of WW3 early.

Most of my aircraft are currently at bases at least 30 minutes away from Turkey, and I'm trying to set a coordinated timed surprise attack. However, I set up the the first ToT (time on target) attack for 1305Z (to give my ASMs time to hit first) but as soon as I close the mission editor, Turkey is hostile (went from orange to red).

How can I do a surprise timed attack on a neutral target without declaring hostilities immediately?

One of the beauties of CMO is that that it allows asymmetric postures. Just because you see one side as red, does not necessarily mean that they see you as red.

All you have to do then is keep your units from firing prematurely. Try just giving your entire side HOLD fire doctrines until you are ready to go.
The boogabooga doctrine for CMO: Any intentional human intervention needs to be able to completely and reliably over-ride anything that the AI is doing at any time.

In the editor, the scenario designer can also manipulate sides/postures/collective responsibility through events, lua, or missions. But its up to the scenario designer to either design it in or you can play in the editor.

Excellent, thanks. I have a whole series of timed strikes so I think I'll have to manually do quite a bit of this.

I believe there is also a hotkey (Ctl+U from memory) to turn a hostile side back to Unfriendly.

Best of luck with the scenario, please let us know how it goes.

Mark targets for ToT as Hostile (Ctrl+H), Mark all other contacts as neutral(Ctrl+T)

I think being able to add units as a target without needing to reset hostility would be a good addition.
