ship upgrade and conversion

Post by aga2008 »

Hi fellow forumites,
I’m trying to setup a scenario to allow for building of an unarmed Yamato class hull (class 1726) that could then be either upgraded to a Yamato class BB (class 1727) as usual or converted to a CVB like the Shinano (class 1799). Both 1727 and 1799 are available in 12/41.
Hull class and Binding see screenshot below

But what I get is :

And regardless of the status of the upgrade YES->CV or NO->CV I only get the 2 Shinano class line upgrades (class 1799 and class 1800).
Also I would like to know how to upgrade the airgroup(s) as for e.g. CS/CVL Chitose.

Thanks in advance for any hints

Ps: also don’t understand why the hull class still has Radar and AA when all weapon slots are empty – seems I have a lot to learn…

I have not done this but maybe try just building the hull but at full cost and then have a 0 day upgrade for either the BB or CV.

For the air units, try giving it float plane units that the units will upgrade to the fighters and/or bombers.

To lower the cost of submarines, lower the durability but then give them a 0 day upgrade to the correct durability. I don't think that a submarine should be 4 times more expensive than a destroyer!
Seek peace but keep your gun handy.

I'm not a complete idiot, some parts are missing! :o

Ones a simply upgrade to, say 1727. The other is a Convert to cLass, in Scen 1 that would be 1855.

If you want a new CV class ship that twould requires a separate entry but's still a conversion.

If you click on the button labelled "11 - 20" you will find the other weapons slots - there are 20 in all.

You may want to take a look at my mod to see how I have done it - it includes a Shinano hull under construction which arrives in 04/43 as unarmed hull and conversion options into either a BB or a CV.

Edit: I see you have "binds" with only one class in it - doesn't make sense because with just one class, there is nothing to "bind". "Binds" are links between at least two or more ship classes.

Here is what it looks in my mod (the 1892, 1893 and 1895 classes are upgrades later in the war):
