Questions/Help with Campaign against Axis AI

Post by Dereck »

My campaign is human Soviet against Axis AT at 110.

So far:
- Game turn October 19, 1941
- Leningrad is surrounded and due to lack of my logistic knowledge not being supplied
- Army Group North seems to gone on the defensive along the Volkov so far
- Army Group Center is 120 miles from Moscow
- Army Group South is 110 miles from Rostov

For the most part I don't seem to be able to even slow the AI down. In the center it's attacking both flanks of my Central Front in front of Moscow because Rokossovsky's and Konev's armies fought them off but I'm slowly having to pull back sections of my front by 10 or 20 miles a turn to keep them from breaking through. Same thing for the Southwestern and Southern Fronts though it's far worse as I'm having a hard time keeping enough troops rotating through the SR to swap out the depleted/unready ones and rebuild my lines for the next turn's butt kicking.

Questions:
- Is there a list anywhere of the AI cheats, err I mean benefits?
- Does logistics matter to the AI? Using the soft factor they are red in AMMO, FUEL and SUPPLIES yet I've counted one stack of units launch over 20 attacks without them being depleted.
- Is there any strategy/tips anywhere for going up against the Axis AI? I'm just hoping to survive until the winter when I might be able to launch a few offensives to straighten my lines and also to rebuild/reorganize my armies and fronts for 1942.

Thanks from the dusty steppes of the cyber-Soviet Union *cough cough*

TBH perhaps it a tad late to be asking for advice against the Axis AI.

T1 - advance into enemy territory and displce as many airfields and HQs as possible. Tear up rails.

T2 - retreat and try and isolate as many Axis spearheads as possible

T3 + - see above and punch the Axis Allies reallyb hard. Start to stockpile supplies in Leningrad. Start to build Forts. Got your supply be air organised.

What Ports do you still have on Lake Lagoda?

AI cheats, benefits - seems to have unlimited movement so to trap an enemy unit you have to occupy every western hex. Leaving one hex open will allow a whole army to escape and be 10 hexes away next turn.

Not sure it is a good idea to rebuild in reserve - you do not accrue cpp. For really important units drop them onto the map on a NSS
Molotov : This we did not deserve.

Foch : This is not peace. This is a 20 year armistice.
