dankhippos vs GBBS combat replay crash

Post by dankhippos »

during a replay the game keeps constantly crashing on the first naval combat of the replay.
any help would be appreciated.
specifically during the day naval movement phase.
it is march 22.
we are both on .27

update: here is a conversation of troubleshooting
MikeB75 — Today at 2:50 PM
I'd guess some "illegal" movement is causing it
e.g. no path found for a tf
I'd suggest for Allied to check offmap movements of TFs

allied player : I am seeing a TF that is out of fuel and wants to get to Eastern US
its offmap.
It cant route to any base
at all
everyone i try it says CANNOT ROUTE TO OFFMAP BASE
right where it says Med Opens in 43
I think its stuck in the med lol
somehow

so it looks like a allied tf is out of fuel and crashing the game possibly. if anyone has any further advice let me know

Med opens only after Operation Husky, that is August 1943.

TFs being lost off-map always happens if you try to change the routing after it has already started its off-map journey. Sometimes it will eventually come back, sometimes not. I had one TF stuck off-map at 0,0 for an entire game. If it is not stuck but just out of fuel, it will sometimes get fuel when another TF is deemed by the AI to be in the same area as that off-map TF and automatically refuels it. Since there is not chain of hexes involved (the AI calculates the time between holding boxes based on ships speed) it would be a calculation that the second TF is the same timeframe distance as the dry one.

That said, off map TFs do not crash the game in earlier versions (I play .1126a) and since you say it is first naval combat I thinks something in the animation setup is wrong. Could you post the string of switches from your shortcut? Some systems need specific switches to make their graphics work.
