How to Calculate How Much Manpower Is Added To Pool Each Turn

Post by Dereck »

If the Germans have 1,621 manpower points and multiplied by 50,000 that equates to 81,050,000.

But HOW do I calculate the amount of manpower that will be added to the German manpower pool each turn?

Thanks

It's in the Logistics Phase Report under the Production section.

First line in the Factories section.

That's the weekly amount. I want to be able to do what-if analysis with raw numbers to determine how many replacements would go into the pool depending on other factors.

What is the FORMULA used?

The manpower pool goes from364,485 to 381,572 (27,087) in a turn and the manpower built from 8,270 to 9,924 (1,654).

How does 1,654 new manpower actually become 27,087?

(please DON'T direct me to any screens because I'm not interested in screens I want to know the underlying formula used to derive these values).

Thanks

Production is one thing. How the manpower pool changes is something totally different than asking just what is produced each turn. Production is what you'd expect from the manual (with some non-German manpower centers producing a small amount of German manpower in addition to the German production). The pool changes because lots of damaged elements (wounded men) each turn are returning to the pool, with most of the manpower going into the transit pool and some going into the disabled pool. The disabled pool slowly sends men back to the manpower pool. Units are using up manpower in the pool when they take replacements. So lots is happening. The one thing is that the manpower produced at the end of the logistics phase so it does not get used on the turn of production. Not entirely sure when the disabled return, but I'm pretty sure that damaged manpower returns to the pools before replacements, and stuff moving from the transit pool to the active pool also happens I think before replacements. So there is a lag on some items, and not on others. Basically for the German player at the start of the war, their units will take losses and usually not be in a great position to take replacements. So more manpower is filtering back to the manpower pool, while the units on the map become reduced. Once the supply system is able to catch up to the German units (usually Spring 42), the manpower pool will start to fall as replacements are finally able to get into units faster than men are wounded. Hope that helps.

No it doesn't actually.

What I need to know is just if the manpower capacity is 1,628 just how many new manpower points would be created. Each capacity point must be equal to a certain amount of manpower points.

It varies by year, because there is a multiplier (that is then divided by 100) you can find in the editor that is different by year by nationality (and which can be impacted by events). Look at the nat/weather tab and look for production modifiers and then click on the nationality on the right to see the multipliers. I think they are in the manual as well.

For Germany, the multiplier in 41 is 100, so if you have 1621 German manpower sites you multiply that by 100 and then you divide by 100, so you'd get 1621 manpower from German factories. In 1942 the multiplier is 600, so you'd get 6 times as much. Czech and Polish manpower sites provide 10% as much (looks like that is set by them having lower multipliers). That means there are round off issues, as each site is done individually, IIRC. I don't know if you can find their contributions in any screens anywhere.

I think there are a few events that change the manpower multipliers (in early 43 and Aug 44, IIRC).
