Nope. The best hex based wargame is Titans of Steel: WS.

I'm brainwashed though as I designed/coded the game.

AH, but its operational...TS:WS will be the best TACTICAL wargame.

...at least until Combat Leader comes out :p

For board games, I would say "Atlantic Wall", by SPI. For computer games, I would say "War in the Pacific: Struggle Against Japan", soon to be by us.

I have long been a fan of a bird in the hand is blah blah blah you know what I mean.

If nothing shows up reeeeeeeeal soon for me in other titles, I might weeeell be interested in this one.

Buuuuut, now that it appears a done deal and on the shelf, does it have a reworked Ardennes that is XP friendly inclusive?

I just would like a current and up to date statement there I suppose.

But as it goes, I don't have any other games within grab range yet.

I am thinking of a hardware purchase, but it is contingent on some creative financial help from a family member hehe.

At 50 bucks US, Korsun Pocket is naturally not for the unsure buyer.

I don't consider myself an unsure buyer, merely a patient one

Being an impulse buyer as well, I can see myself investing in it if it has the Ardennes scenario in it.
Not that I don't like the Korsun setting, I merely have no real background knowledge of the battle.

But I have seen the Ardennes scenario sufficiently to know the way the program is designed is very appealing to this particular wargamer.

I don't think Korsun has anything to fear from Combat Leader though beyond the fact that some of us poor sods are wretchedly poor

.

I also have an interest in Battlefields, but like I said, a bird in the hand hehe.

Guess it's time to start thinking of either not even remotely subtle hints for next christmas, or I will have to edit some of my spending cash (pathetic sum that it is) in favouring of saving up for Korsun.

If I had a real income this would all be academic. Oh for the 80's when I had real income.

KP ships with the Ardennes Campaign game. Other Ardennes scens will likely be added after the release.

Its likely a matter of days not weeks at this point before an availability announcement is made. One of the tradeoffs with our new fullfillment house is that, while they handle more of the details - leaving us free to work on games instead of order and shipping problems - they also handle more of the details and we are not in complete control of the exact timing of when it ships to whom...

Note that reports are trickling in that pre-order-ers are getting emails that their copies are shipping. So we should receive word soon of its availability in stores.

Yes just letting you know that the preorders from the estore have shipped for most people from what I have seen and mine has also with fedex delivery due today, it is on the truck yahoooo!!. EB is listing a ship date of today so their stores usually have them in the next day so Friday or at worst Saturday for most stores I would believe.

And I see the announcement of general availablity has now been made.

I have to say that while Korsun Pocket is a "no brainer" I think many tactical level enthusiasts who may not be into "sci fi" may find Titans of Steel:Warring Suns a plesant surprise.

While its "turn based" and to a certain extent "We-Go" - the way it uses a time based event queue to sequence actions is really innovative.

Unless you think you just can't get passed the Sci-Fi theme I think this game will really become a "guilty pleasure" for the hard-core historical tactial gamer...it has for me

...and a great way to get kids interested...a superb "gateway game" though with a bit of a learning curve - requires a few training runs especially for those used to PS2 style gaming.

Oh yes, while my excitement for Korsun is as high as a skyrocket, I also have Titans on order at eb along with another copy of Korsun for my Bro. I never was into mechs, however the game play seems fun and I know he will enjoy it. Looking forward to both.

The only thing worse than buying a rotten piece of software, is having to settle for only being able to look at a good wargame on the shelf.
