What is a good MP scenario for a low skill player vs. totally new player?

Post by ElizabethRStevenson »

Hello!

I introduced a friend to the game, and he is totally new. We want to do MP the same day that he first tries it.

I'm trying to think of a scenario were I, who have played a bit, but not read the manual other than to look up specifics, can play vs. him, and it'd be fairly even? It's obviously not going to be a competitive game, but if anyone has a scenario in mind that would be nice.

I was thinking ideally 150-250 units range.

If that rings a bell for anyone, It'd be real nice. I can only really think of balanced scenarios, or scenarios that are very one sided, or way too big.

To fit your requirements, you might try:

Balkans 12
Balkans 13
Crusader 41
Inkangahtawng 1944

Each scenario is short and has a low unit count.

Suggest that the learning experience include an understanding of the difference between “Single Unit Attack” and “Single Unit Limited Attack”. “Single Unit Attack” allows the attacking unit to advance if the assault is successful while “Single Unit Limited Attack” prohibits the attacking unit from advancing. This is useful when a unit is counterattacking but does not want to leave its defensive position. Beware that the “Attacker Planner” seems to default to advance after attack.

Thank you, I after looking at your suggestions I think Balkans 13 will be great. The advise you gave, I didn't even know myself, by the way, so thanks for that, too.

Still not totally clear. Nevertheless, You might want to look at my Shiloh 1862 scenario:

Give the weaker player the Union for their ultimate edge in material.

Ah, I see, a joke. You got me.

I'd consider that scenario but don't like to go too far back in time, otherwise it was very much good advise thanks

I would recommend "Ia Drang 65".

Give the skilled player the command of the NVA and the noob player the command of the US/ARVN.

I played a PBEM game with the NVA and is challenging as hell... I think that US/ARVN has much more superiority
