Region Control Question

Post by Dereck »

The Schleswig-Holstein region is an on-map region of Germany.

There is GAME EVENT 0075 where the Western Allies capture the region on 1945-05-06 if Hamburg is still controlled by the Axis.

Question: What will happen if I have Soviet units in the region but they haven't got to where they control Hamburg yet to stop the 0075 condition from happening? When the region becomes controlled by the WA will it become off-map or will the WA troops and my troops just do the Snoopy "Happy to Meet You" Happy Dance together?

I ask because I've added a GAME EVENT where if the Soviets ever get control of Hamburg I'm opening up Denmark for possible Soviet invasion.

The intention was that units are moved out of the area if it becomes Western Allied controlled. However, I seem to recall seeing a case where some German units got frozen in an area that had switched. That's not as bad as the Soviets getting frozen there (you can think of the Germans as surrendering to the Western Allies), but I don't really know for sure what's going to happen.

Okay I will play it safe and take it out and not try to be cute and give it some more thought.

Okay I think I might have come up with a solution:

GAME EVENT 0075-Schleswig-Holstein Falls if triggered won't set the Schleswig-Holstein area to WA Control (just in case I do have some units in that region) BUT it will disable the event to open up Denmark to being on map and the Soviets will have to be happy looting ...err I mean liberating northern Germany . Simulate the WA keeping the Soviets out of there.

If the Soviets do manage to beat the British to Hamburg and my new event triggers I will add disabling GAME EVENT 0075.

So whichever one triggers first will disable the other.

Think that is a feasible solution?
