Inconsistent Diplomatic Relations list behavior

Post by 100thMonkey »

Platform: Steam
Build version: v1.1.7.3 Beta
Severity: Low
Annoyance factor: Low
Confusion for new players: Medium
Saved game:

The CC’s Diplomatic Relations list interface behaves in an inconsistent manner when certain click sequences are done, which results in the selection panel not showing what it should (showing the capital of an empire other than the one selected in the list).

To reproduce with the save:

Make sure that the filter is set to Empires Only and sort set to Proximity (which should be the case after loading the save). Then click on the Gizurean Swarm entry in the list, which automatically selects that empire capital and shows it in the selection panel.

Then click on the Kuwok Bliss entry in the list: the selection panel closes down, presumably because I don’t know their capital location. Which I assume is the way it’s supposed to work.

Then click again on the Gizurean Swarm entry, and then on the entry for the Antaris Guilds. This time, the selection panel doesn’t close down, and it continues to show the previously shown capital (in this case, the Gizurean Swarm’s capital). Which I’m pretty sure isn’t what’s supposed to happen.

Haven’t tested with other filters or sort. But the same thing happens no matter what other empire is selected before clicking on the Antaris Guilds entry in the list, as long as it’s an empire for which I know the capital’s location.
- Imagine how confusing it is to a new player!
