Redrum (Axis) vs ElvisJJonesRambo (Allies) v1.17

Post by redrum68 »

So I decided to finally play the legend... This will be an AAR with mostly screenshots and just a little bit of commentary. I'll also be testing some of the balance/meta thoughts I posted here: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 6&t=398267

The Germans start with a 2 turn invasion of Poland as I don't have enough practice to do it in 1.

Nice start to your AAR. You mentioned not taking down Poland (Warsaw) in the first turn. Well maybe it was best not to as this alarms Stalin, and a first turn take down of Poland increases Soviet Mobilization right off.
Read your suggestions too and it's good.
Cheers. 🙂

Thanks! Yeah there are pros and cons to a T1 Poland and there doesn't seem to be a strong consensus on which is better. I personally think T1 vs T2 is pretty balanced actually. The pros of a T1 are getting units to France faster, getting Poland income sooner, less losses in counterattacks by Poles while the cons are higher USSR mobilization and less unit exp farming. Btw, I'd appreciate your thoughts in the balance thread so we can hopefully convince Bill/Hubert to make some tweaks :)

The Germans invade Luxembourg and upgrade units to prepare to invade Belgium next turn. Probably a turn slower than is optimal.

Japan's advance has been mostly uncontested and the cowardly Chinese units hide behind the USA mobilization line. I've decided to go all in on China and prepare positions to cross the line next turn.

Huh. I would have moved all French ships to UK ports and hope at least some of them stay on as Free French...

I think if Germany takes Vichy decision then there isn't any chance of the French navy joining the Allies
