War in Europe! It would sell

Post by Zemke »

Old story, but this would sell. Unite War in the East with War in the West to create War in Europe and change the time scale to half-week turns, it would sell guaranteed!

Yes I know there are some things that would need to be simulated, like Naval, but sometimes a simple fix is better than a complicated one. $100 game for sure.

Then there's also Steel Tigers that was shelved so that WiTE2 could be delivered.

You have to wonder at this point how much Gary's got left, even if just in terms of interest.

I'd need a live like a hermit in a monastery to finish such an endeavor. Maybe eventually an asylum.

I've thought the same thing even regarding WiTE2.

The only thing sadder than senior PC wargames grogs is PC senior software engineers.

I am retired (software engineer) and this is one of my favorite hobbies despite no longer learning as fast or retaining as well. (I still code from time to time.)

The culture of software engineering design/coding/debugging is an obsessive one. This may be because of toxic corporate culture pushing us, but most often, we push ourselves. The problem before you will not leave your thoughts, because it is 7pm or Saturday or you are home with the family. Working on things around the clock is fine in your 20s and 30s, but the toll is much more the further along you are in life.

I wanted to point out the above, since I think if you have the means to enjoy your old age, then you should. I don't want to be calling on Gary to do this until he drops; even if it is his love.

Now, I will add my voice. If WITW is ported to the WITE-2 engine, I would buy it. I prefer a port as opposed to a merger, since I already find both games are "mega" enough. Of course, an external join mechanism (for those who own both) could be developed for TBs similar to how Field of Glory Empires | Field of Glory II interface works.

In any case, thank you Gary for these master pieces.
