How to "un-detach" a unit?

Rule the Waves III is a simulation of naval ship design and construction, fleet management and naval warfare from 1890 to 1970. and will place you in the role of 'Grand Admiral' of a navy from the time when steam and iron dominated warship design up to the missile age.

How to "un-detach" a unit?

Post by thedoctorking »

I have several times had the experience of a unit being hit, getting detached from its formation (sometimes without even asking me), controlling its flooding or fire or what have you, and then I want it to rejoin its division and go on fighting, but every time I put it on AI control it turns away and heads for the nearest port. Presumably, it is still obeying the logic of disengage from the battle and head for the barn. How can I change this behavior and still have the unit on AI control? Or am I just doomed to maneuver these guys manually for the rest of the battle?

Set it on core and AI control and original div as lead div. Alter lead div speed below max ship speed to allow catch-up. The pray.
Ritual sacrifice of your pets to Neptun is rumoured to help, but don't blame me if it doesn't.

Thanks, tried that, but even if I manually maneuver them into the correct position, when I put them on AI, they immediately turn away and run for the exits. The cowards.

Put it on manual control, then have it stay as close as possible to its original division. If the damage isn't too severe, it'll reattach within 10-20 turns.
