"Do you really want to armor the turrets that heavily?"

Rule the Waves III is a simulation of naval ship design and construction, fleet management and naval warfare from 1890 to 1970. and will place you in the role of 'Grand Admiral' of a navy from the time when steam and iron dominated warship design up to the missile age.

Why wouldn't I?

Is too-heavy armor on turrets a contributing factor to turret jams? I figure I want the turrets armored nearly as heavily as the main belt. After all, for a BX, the guns are the ship's raison d'etre.

On the contrary, heavier turret armor appears to reduce the jam chance on hit. The disadvantage is that it's quite massive for how "little" coverage it gives in RTW3, though that's minor because of what you said.

There is a joke that if the game doesn't ask you this question, you've not armored your turrets enough yet.
