Any more expansion or dlc coming after OOB update?

Post by verdugo94 »

Hello,

as the title says, could we expect any more expansion or dlc after the huge OoB update? The last I read was that they were halted waiting for this update but I would like to know if they are still on the road :) This is a great game, I would gladly pay for more content.

Thank you

There's nothing in the works at the moment. I'd say there's a certain amount of exhaustion by the scenario/data team after the past 2 years, first completing Steel Inferno and then completing the massive OB update in the most recent public betas. The amount of data being moved around, especially in a campaign game is staggering. In addition, thanks to many of you in the forum, there is always new information becoming available that calls for a change here or there. I can't say for sure where we'll end up, but there will be an operational pause to allow our combat prep points to build up before any major new tasks are undertaken.

Thanks for your update. This will give me time to balance my OOB mod 3.0 before its official release! :D

I don't think it will materialize, I think Gary and Joel are going to retire soon, God bless them, they been doing this for 30+ years. But who knows you can dream.

They can not. They need to create a Napoleonic game to end the trilogy of wargaming (with WW2 and ACW) :)

Just kidding of course, I wish them and their team the best.

I wish more mid-small scenarios could be added or ported from WITE1, sell as new DLC is fine.

As a working person, I only have 1-2 hours each night to play this beloved game, so I might never have a chance to play grand campaign. But I really enjoy smaller scenarios which I could finish in a few nights.

Again, thanks for build the monster game. You know the fans always want more..

44 years, but whose counting. :D I too would like to see some more small scenarios. I think the game system is best at simulating 3 to 6 months of action, although these might not qualify as small scenarios.

Exactly! I totally agree ... but why is that? Could it be that the smaller scenarios start with somewhat historical unit dispositions, including strong points and weak points, which the campaign play (other than Barbarossa) does not?

I think the game mechanics are reasonably fleshed out, but the campaign game lacks the element of Strategic surprise for both sides' yearly campaign seasons. Let's face it, the great majority want a viable Campaign game, but everyone can look back in hindsight and see the predictable Operation(s) "Uranus" or "Bagration" for example and take game play actions to prevent them in those specific areas, but if the threat of strategic surprise was extended to anywhere on the campaign front line, it could be a game changer for replayability. The reason those two Russian Operations succeeded so wildly was because of strategic surprise, something that the current game design does not really allow for. Now how to make that work is something for you game developers to work out, but I wouldn't be constrained to try to duplicate the historical campaign arrangements, instead just duplicating the surprise conditions to let the players use their own imaginations for success or failure.

Thanks for everything ... lets remember that even Rundstedt can be called after his retirement ... :D
