Changing TK and AO starting numbers?

Post by John 3rd »

Hello Modders.

How does one change a Tanker or AO's starting fuel number? By this I mean the fuel or oil within the ship--ie...its cargo.
Have several Japanese and Allied TFs on December 7th that start with partial amounts that I would like to change.

Appreciate the help.

This same question got asked by Cavalry Corp about two years ago. Doesn't seem like a useful answer was ever found.

John 3ed. I was chatting to Alfred about starting condition, including the fact that almost all vessels start the game with full gas tanks and in perfect running order, which is totally unrealistic. Then your thread came up. So I'm passing along his comments:
1. The default quantum of cargo load carried by ships already in a task force on day 1 of a scenario is hard coded. The code allocates a random quantum.
2. There is a work around the hard coding for modders. It is easily abused with the result of unbalancing the scenario.
3. Factors involved in the work around include:
(a) type of task force
(b) type of ship in the task force
(c) task force size
(d) task force location
4. Even with the work around, the actual quantum loaded is determined by the code. Using the editor a modder can not directly input the desired quantum but they can obtain the desired quantum with the appropriate manipulation.

hope this helps. Hal

Ahhhh...that at least answers the question and makes some sense for starting TFs in a historical scenario. Makes it much more difficult in my Mods to try and have forces starting with x-amount of fuel or supply in them...

Thanks for the ask with Alfred.
