Air Interdiction

Post by mroyer »

I think an "air interdiction" capability could be seamlessly implemented into the air system as currently designed.

Whenever an air attack mission is executed in a hex that has enemy transportation lines, reduce the number of LP points the enemy player has available in that hex for the next turn in a proportion similar to how infrastructure is damaged.

The tricky part would be to make the effect well balanced. But, if achieved, air interdiction would be both very useful and very realistic, IMO.

It's certainly a notable factor that's missing compared to real life. Bombing logistics asset isn't quite the same thing, since a single hex is easier to defend than the whole length of a road and shorter-ranged aircraft won't always be in range of a logistics asset in the back.
Not affiliated with Slitherine. They added it to my name when they merged the Slitherine and Matrix account systems.

Yes. And, I imagine bombing a stretch of road/rail should be significantly less effective than bombing the asset itself, typically just causing a sag in logistics capacity unless there was overwhelming interdiction.

Of course, air interdiction could also be applicable to MTH transport routes on the sea too - if only your air recon and/or spies could locate the routes.
